I am a spouse, dad, runner, and have the good fortune of holding a tenured academic position. I am Associate Professor in the Department of Communication Studies at Wilfrid Laurier University, Waterloo, Ontario. My teaching, research and general interests are grounded in the areas of visual culture, visual communication, sports studies, and surveillance studies. I am specifically interested in photography and related imaging practices, particularly in the use of images as visual evidence.
I am now researching and writing a critical, cultural history of the use of images as evidence in sport, with specific emphasis on the photo finish.
